Huddersfield Giants Community Trust is delighted to announce the Ronan Costello Festival will now take place on Wednesday 13th September after the postponement in July due to adverse weather conditions.
The festival is a legacy created in memory of the late Ronan Costello, a Giants Academy and Brighouse Rangers forward who sadly lost his life while playing for the Giants U19s in 2016.
We last staged the event in 2019, with over 100 children in attendance. Four years to now, after an enforced break we currently have over 150 children in age groups U7-U9 from ambassador and community clubs associated to Huddersfield Giants coming together in a Rugby League festival.
The event will take place at Leeds Road Playing Fields, from 18:00. On the evening there will be competitive small sided matches for both boys and girls to enjoy and play a part in Ronan’s legacy.
Vendors Burger Burger, Hey Sweetheart Sweetshop and SmartCoffee Live will be available throughout the event to cater food and refreshments.
There is still time to sign your community club up to take part in the festival, which includes a small donation that will help raise vital funds for Huddersfield Giants Community Trust. You can register via the link HERE. Please note the closing date to enter your team is Friday 8th September.
Becky Colwell, Giants Rugby Development Officer adds: We are delighted to bring back the Festival after a short break. Having heard how in previous years the Rugby League family have come together, it is an exciting event I’m proud to be a part of. We have over 150 players attending but there is still time for teams to join. It would be amazing to see as many teams come together.”
We welcome spectators, family, friends, colleagues and fans of local Rugby League clubs to come along and get involved.
Earlier this year it was 7 years since Ronan’s passing and the Trust is delighted to continue his legacy.
