Huddersfield Giants Community Trust is delighted to welcome Christ Church Pellon C of E VC Primary School to our partner schools initiative, joining a growing list of schools signing up to the program.
The partnership was launched this week with a whole school assembly which included a welcome visit from a very special guest, Huddersfield Giants mascot Big G. Following his recent makeover, Big G was proud to reveal his new look as well as showing off his strength as he took on a press-up challenge before showing an overjoyed audience some of his best dance moves.
Head of Community Development Jonathan Timms commented “The program is going from strength to strength with schools from far and wide contacting us to benefit from becoming a partner school. It was great to welcome Christ Church with an assembly attended by Big G who received a fantastic welcome following his recent makeover. As an organisation, we cannot wait to begin our work, alongside the schools’ staff, towards realising our vision that no child should leave school obese and that all children should confidently participate in sport or physical activity”.
Caroline Bullard, the schools Deputy Head Teacher commented. “We are pleased that we are becoming a partner school with Huddersfield Giants for this academic year. The programme will support the children of Christ Church to develop a healthy, active lifestyle, whilst also developing their levels of attainment by encouraging the value of perseverance.”
Unfortunately, Big G was unavailable to comment but we are assured by trusted sources that he thoroughly enjoyed meeting the pupils and looks forward to seeing them again soon.
