The recent success of Huddersfield Giants Partner Schools Program continues to grow with the addition of Crossley Fields Junior & Infant School (Mirfield) and Savile Town CE Infant & Nursery School (Dewsbury) , who join the initiative for 2018/19.
Debbie Douglas, Head Teacher at Savile Town CE Infant & Nursery School commented. “We are looking forward to the opportunity of working together with Huddersfield Giants Community Trust in the coming year, broadening our knowledge and understanding of different sports as well as learning about healthy eating and lifestyles. The lunchtime and after school clubs will enable more children to become involved as well as extend our gifted and talented children. the children have thoroughly enjoyed the assemblies so far this year, and are looking forward to spending a day at The Zone in July”.
Huddersfield Community Trust Head of Sport Jonathan Timms added. “Huddersfield Community Trust are working hard towards the vision that no child leaves high school obese while leading healthy active lives. This can only be achieved through developing sport, physical activity, health and education in schools and we are delighted that the Partner School initiative has been so openly received. Both Crossley Fields and Savile Town have demonstrated a commitment to their pupils by signing up to the initiative for the 2018/19 academic year”
The Giants Partner School Program sees schools allocated either a half or full day of delivery from a dedicated Huddersfield Giants Partner School Officer for three half terms a year and is a partnership whereby the trust and school work together in the best interests of school pupils through bespoke lessons and delivery.
Primary schools interested in becoming a Huddersfield Giants Partner School are encouraged to contact Jonathan Timms (jonathan.timms@huddersfieldcommunitytrust.co.uk) in advance of the summer holidays.
