Three players from the Huddersfield Giants Category 3 Rugby League Academy have made it through to the third stage of the England Colleges Trials.
Category 3 Ruby League Academy students and Moldgreen ARLFC amateur Rugby League players Bob Jowett, James Szuluk and Josh Willcock have secured their places in stage three of the England Colleges Trials on Monday 26th March. The news follows as the Academy side were successfully crowned Champions of the West Yorkshire 1 League on Wednesday 21st March.
The three players have been stand out performers this year and if they progress to the final stage of the trials they will be playing in the North vs South region games in which they will then be selected to represent England Colleges in their last two games of the season. Bob, James and Josh are all currently studying in their first year of the BTEC National Diploma at the Huddersfield Elite Academy based at The Zone.
Head Coach of the Giants Category 3 Rugby League Academy Chris Cullimore commented, “It is great to see Bob, James and Josh progressing at a professional level, quickly and successfully. It really does speak volumes of the programme we are delivering within our Education Department. The lads have performed exceptionally well this year within the college league games and we wish them the best of luck in their next stage.”
Quality Assurance and Welfare Officer Claire Ford commented: “It’s a fantastic achievement for the lads to have made it this far, especially in their first year. They are real assets to our Education Academy and we look forward to continuing working with them during their final year.”
