Giants CT confirm redevelopments to community hub

Giants Community Trust launch exciting new enhancements to community hub, The Zone.

The Trust is proud to unveil an exciting project of developments focused on it’s commitment to increasing access to more sporting opportunities, promote physical activity and improving the wellbeing of local people across the local community.

The Zone, powered by Giants Community Trust, is located in the centre of Huddersfield and serves communities throughout Kirklees. A dedicated indoor community facility, that provides a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all ages and abilities can come together to take part in sport and enjoy positive experiences.

As part of its ongoing commitment to providing inclusive, high-quality facilities and opportunities for movement, the Trust will oversee a comprehensive programme of upgrades designed to enhance the space for the entire community. These improvements represent an important step forward in ensuring The Zone continues to evolve in response to the needs of the community.

As part of the 1,700m2 redevelopment, this will include;

• A complete refurbishment of the 3G playing surface on the existing playing court, including changes to the surrounding perimeter.
• A purpose built Training Area which will include a bespoke performance floor offering greater flexibility for a wide range of sports and activities. 
• Installation of a newly laid multi-surface recreational playing area. This will enable the Trust to present and deliver on more accessible sports and community projects.

This redevelopment forms a key part of Giants Community Trust’s wider strategic vision to strengthen community connections and deliver an even greater impact across Kirklees.

Once complete, the enhanced facility is expected to increase participation, welcome new user groups and further establish The Zone as the leading community hub for community engagement in Huddersfield.
