Huddersfield Giants marked International Women’s Day by hosting an event for women in business.
Supported by the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, Kirklees Council and Huddersfield Community Trust, the event included Jacqui Gedman, Chief Executive of Kirklees Council, as the guest speaker and over 100 people in attendance for a networking opportunity for like-minded people promoting women in sport.
Giants Commercial Director, Andrew Watson, commented:
“We were delighted to host such an event to celebrate the work of so many influential women in business. We are a family friendly Club with over a third of our fanbase being female, so seeing such a lack of events for women in business lead us to challenge this and host an occasion to celebrate the fantastic work they are doing around Kirklees and bring many significant people together in a networking event.
“The event went down very well and we’re delighted to have been able to welcome so many powerful business women. The day featured a memorable moment from our guest speaker Jacqui Gedman who provided a truly inspirational speech that featured a stirring account of how she rose to become the Chief Executive of Kirklees Council.
“We’re proud to have been able to put together such a well-received event on International Women’s Day.”
