Huddersfield Giants Community Trust is delighted to announce the 2019 Girls England Talent Pathway dates following a hugely successful 2018 program seeing players attend from as far away as Wigan and Catterick.

Six development days will be held throughout 2019 for u12’s, u14’s and u16’s players (School years 6 to 11) providing attendees with outstanding professional coaching within a fun development environment.

Huddersfield Giants Woman’s Head Coach, Steve Stead, commented:

“The England Talent Pathway Programme was a hugely popular sell-out program in 2018 and we are delighted to run the program once more in 2019”

“We’re excited to host more young people in the community and help create a sustainable future for the female game. The sessions offer a great platform for a young woman to get into Rugby League and I hope that lots of girls see the opportunity of being able to get into the sport through these fantastic sessions which offer a pathway to an increased involvement in Rugby League.

“In 2018 we have already seen players develop through the England Talent Pathway program into our Huddersfield Giants Woman’s squad and we’re pleased to be able to offer this to girls in the community and make sure that they are being given an equal opportunity in the sport.

“England Talent Pathway is all about providing high-quality coaching to help enable these players to be able to make the step up and progress into a professional rugby environment. We’re pleased to offer such a beneficial programme to girls in Rugby League and look forward to seeing many talented young female players come through and reap the rewards of these sessions.”

Reflecting on 2018 development days, Helen Webb, parent of player Olivia Webb commented: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the coaches for a fantastic set of training sessions over the past few weeks! Olivia has had a brilliant time and has learnt lots, she really appreciates the effort everyone has put into making the sessions a success and already can’t wait to come back next year!”

The program will once again be supported by Huddersfield University. Head of Community Development Jonathan Timms commented “we are delighted to have the support of a world-renowned organisation in Huddersfield University for our Girls England Talent Pathway. Without the support of such partners, the program could not be what it is and we are extremely grateful for the support we receive”.
