Giants RL Reminiscence Sessions

Reminisce Huddersfield Sporting History with like-minded Individuals

Huddersfield Giants Community Trust organises weekly meetings for sports fans, especially of Huddersfield Giants and Rugby League to share their memories over years gone by.

We are dedicated to bring older adults together to share their passion – the love of sport!

HGCT recognises that the elder adults may struggle from isolation, low confidence, dementia or ill-health. With a keen focus to help combat this we use the power of sport to create an atmosphere that can bring happy and good memories through reminiscence.

Using memorabilia, photos, positive recollections from Huddersfield Giants or local community clubs we use these tools to start conversations, share memories, provide enjoyment and make new friendships.

A free session to attend, with no commitment needed, it is designed to be an informal approach, the sessions are led by you and others where we share and discuss talking points over favourite memories and memorabilia.

The weekly sessions are held at The Zone in a safe and controlled environment.

PE lessons and support in PE lessons are great! Children are enjoying lunchtime clubs. Good relationships with children - building relationships. Sharing tickets to the rugby games with the children and encouraging them to try to watch different sports. The sessions during the breakfast club are extremely engaging and the majority of children who chose to go outside to take part in Jordan’s sessions they are also very fun based and extremely inclusive so all abilities can take part successfully., Jordan is always punctual and is pleasant with the children.

Duane's delivery of Sky Try Rugby was fantastic. The children left with a wealth of knowledge on the sport - the have even practised what they have learnt in the playground too.
