Popular sessions for Under 12s-14s will return for July & August school holidays.
Following on from our sell out Evolution Pathway sessions in the February half term Huddersfield Giants are delighted to announce our second batch of 2018 Evolution Pathway Development Days in the July and August school holidays for under 12s, 13s and 14s, school years 7, 8 and 9.
The development day sessions will run in the school holidays where players are coached in line with the Giants Academy and First Team structures. The sessions help to develop individual players as well as local Community Clubs and the local talent pool alongside the England Talent Pathway programme.
Giants Head of Youth, Andy Kelly, commented: “We want to encourage people that are curious about Rugby League to give it a go and also for kids that want to push themselves. It’s a great opportunity not just for the players but also for Coaches and Teachers to participate or come along and observe.”
“This programme helps us to identify people and talent, who we think have the attributes to take them forward to the next level. It also helps to give young players an insight into what the next level is, as the content of the programme is designed around it being accessible to all categories.”
The success of the programme in 2018 has been highlighted with players progressing to the Huddersfield Giants Scholarship Programme and Huddersfield Giants Head of Community, Chris Cullimore was keen to add: “The programme proved a huge success in February half term, with each day seeing over 40 players attend, the players on these days ranged from having never played the game, played rugby within school and regular players who play within the amateur scene. Proving that the programme is open to everyone regardless of the level you play at. What is great to see is the support that the programme is given by the Giants First team who regularly turn up to join in within the session, something that is great to see and brings a real smile to the players involved in the programme.”
One parent of an Under 13 player attending spoke particularly highly of the development days: “The coaching the kids receive is first class, you can see them been challenged beyond what they have done before picking up and learning new skills. The sessions are well structured and most of all fun as well as developing the players”.
