Shaw Cross Primary Academy has become the latest in a succession of schools to benefit from being a Huddersfield Giants Partner School for the 2018/19 academic year.
The Partner School program will see a dedicated Huddersfield Giants Partner Schools Officer regularly delivering PE, health and education sessions within the school in both curriculum and enrichment time throughout the academic year. This sustained delivery period will enable Huddersfield Giants Community Trust, the charitable arm of Huddersfield Giants to make a positive impact upon the health, wellbeing and education of the schools’ pupils.
Huddersfield Giants Community Trust’s Sports Development Manager Dan Wilczynski commented on the partnership. “We have had a very good relationship with Shaw Cross Primary Academy since my start here, the commitment shown by sports lead Caroline Carbutt towards PE being engaging, fun and enjoyable for all is a great credit to the school. I am delighted that the school have been able to recognise the value in the work we do to commit to becoming a Partner School for the next academic year and hopefully beyond”.
Caroline Carbutt also commented on the partnership. “At Shaw Cross we know that physical activity and an active lifestyle can have a huge impact on a child’s health and wellbeing. We have been making links with HGCT for a while now and have benefited from the expertise of coaching staff. We are looking forward to strengthening these links by being a partner school. We have lots of exciting things planned for both in the curriculum, and in extended learning through lunchtime and after-school clubs to encourage our children to have active lifestyles”.
