THE GIANT HOWARTH SLEEPOUT RETURNS FOR THE SECOND YEAR!
Huddersfield Giants Community Trust and The Howarth Foundation can confirm Sleepout number 2 will be back at The John Smith’s Stadium this October!
This year’s event is pencilled in for Friday 13th October 2023 (subject to slight change depending on the sporting fixtures) where we ask people in and around our networks to give up a night of comfort and spend a night outdoors to help highlight poverty and raise valuable funds which will support the work our charities deliver in our region.
The Giant Howarth Sleepout is a large fundraiser and now a firm fixture in the calendar, which includes staff and volunteers giving up their time to make sure all funds raised will directly make an impact to our charity work and support those who are most in need in our local community.
After last years instalment where over 75 participants braved the elements, raising over £6,000 we are excited to host the event again, bigger and better!
There will be a host of entertainment and activities throughout the night, however the event is to give individuals a powerful insight into a one-off experience of what it is like to spend a night outdoors and how homeless individuals are currently coping on a daily basis.
We encourage businesses, business leaders (who may be looking at a CSR opportunity), team building, families (including children), individuals, sports groups, community groups, supporters, colleagues and others to take part.
The Howarth Foundation works with local third sector organisations to support individuals who are or have been homeless back into employment. Part of this process is to provide work packages, to make the transition back into employment more accessible for the individual. One back to work package costs a minimum of £500, which includes food parcels, clothing, and travel.
Huddersfield Giants Community Trust is the official charity of the Huddersfield Giants and uses the power of the sport to engage and inspire individuals of all ages and abilities through four key areas: Sport, Education, Health and Social Inclusion. The Trust has a mission to support underserved children in the school holidays by providing mainstream sport camps and food packages to keep children active, healthy and engaged.
