Huddersfield Giants Women are delighted to announce John Heaton as Strength and Conditioning Coach for 2023
Heaton, will arrive at the Giants for the beginning of pre season and will bring a wealth of experience in the field of Strength and Conditioning, especially in Rugby League.
John’s career so far has included spells at Batley Bulldogs, Castleford Tigers, Gateshead Thunder and more recently Wakefield Trinity and England Students Ladies.
In addition to his Strength & Conditioning expertise, John has had the honour to offer Sports Therapy support to the Italian Rugby League World Cup squad, England Water Polo team, Morley RUFC and has recently finished work with the RFL Talent Hub series.
A full-time lecturer at Wakefield College, John knows what it takes to achieve at the highest level as he is a two-time British and World Drug Free Bodybuilding Champion.
On the prospect of working with the Giants, John comments: “Despite a difficult two seasons of results at Wakefield Trinity, i’ve really enjoyed working with the team who have a great set of girls going through a transition period after losing a few of their experienced players either retitring or moved to other clubs post Covid.
Coming from men’s Rugby League it’s taken me a while to adapt to the womens game but i’m relishing the opportunity to now help the Giants take that next step physically and mentally, to be competitive in Super League. I’ve met with James and he assures me the Giants Community Trust are fully behind the women’s programme. We’ve seen with the England Womens football team what can be achieved with the full support and a professional mindset.
I’m excited for a new challenge and looking forward to start work with the team later this year.”
