SUCCESSFUL MAY HALF TERM WIH PEAK ATTENDANCE
Huddersfield Giants Community Trust enjoyed a hugely successful May Half Term, delivering a packed programme of activities in The Zone and the wider Kirklees community. The provisions engaged both primary and secondary school aged children, offering a range of fun, inclusive and development focused programmes.
Across four days of delivery, the Trust hosted a variety of popular sessions, including a Junior Rugby Camp, Multi-Sports, Cheerleading & Gymnastics camps, Giants Evolution Pathway player development sessions, as well as an inclusive SEND provision.
It proved to be an exceptionally busy week for the Trust, with sessions operating at or near full capacity. In total, over 350 children were engaged across all activities, highlighting the continued success of high-quality holiday provision.
The wide ranging programmes ensured that children of all abilities and interests could take part, with opportunities to stay active, learn new skills and build confidence in a supportive environment.
Holiday camp attendees at The Zone were treated to a special visit from Huddersfield Giants first-team player Tom Burgess, who delivered an inspiring and interactive session. The visit included a Q&A, photo and autograph opportunities, as well as fun player-to-child challenges, creating a memorable experience for all involved.
In addition, the Trust was delighted to welcome Harold the Robot from the University of Huddersfield, who proved to be a huge hit with participants. The Trust extends it’s thanks to the University for supporting this opportunity and contributing to an engaging and innovative week of activities.
The Trust’s SEND provision, delivered at The Zone, provided a welcoming and supportive environment for children to engage in meaningful and tailored activities. Sessions included access to sensory environments, adapted sports activities, and creative crafts, ensuring all participants could fully immerse themselves and enjoy the programme.
The week also saw strong participation in the Giants Evolution Pathway, with over 80 players attending development sessions at local community club Dewsbury Moor. These sessions, open to boys and girls aged 12+, focused on progression, skill development and providing a clear pathway within the sport.
The success of May half term programmes once again highlights Huddersfield Giants Community Trust’s commitment to delivering impactful community initiatives. With momentum building, the Trust now looks ahead to its upcoming summer, set to provide even more opportunities for children and young people to get active and involved at The Zone.
