We provide a unique Further Education programme to post 16 graduates, delivering a BTEC Sport Level 3 alongside sporting opportunities
The BTEC Sport level 3 is a two year qualification providing learners a valuable insight into the variety of subjects relevant to the sporting industry. The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with employers and relevant professional bodies to confirm that it is appropriate for those interested in working in the sector. It is equivalent to 3 A-levels and nationally recognised by UCAS and Higher Education Institutions.
To study for the BTEC Sport Level 3, a minimum requirement of four 4’s at GCSE level will enable you to enrol onto the programme.
Giants Rugby League Development Academy
With the education programme, we are committed to providing a high performance player development environment that meets the RFL standards, while allowing students to continue their further education study.
Learners on the Rugby pathway will take part in an elite player development programme, consisting of weekly training sessions alongside the academy players, strength and conditioning programmes and recovery sessions.
Alongside the development programme, there are opportunities for learners to gain valuable coaching experiences which are linked to the partnership schools programmes that HGCT sport coaches deliver in around the local community.
Learners will have the opportunity to represent Huddersfield Giants in the College Rugby League, competing against other professional Rugby League development teams.
Partnership with Kirklees College
Learners who may not achieve the required grades, can attend Kirklees College on a one year NCFE level 2 programme, and still be involved in the Huddersfield Giants Development Academy. Once completing the level 2 progress can be made onto a BTEC Level 3 in sport with Huddersfield Giants. Find out more at Kirklees College HERE.
