Coaches and Management Team join the U19s Women’s team

Huddersfield Giants U19s Women’s team have welcomed some fresh faces with a Management and Strength and Conditioning team joining the side.

The team already sees Giants Community Development Officers, Ben Dawson and James Westerby assisting Head Coach Steve Stead.

New to the Club is Dave Allen, from Batley Bulldogs Ladies, and Jane Dyer, from Thornhill Trojan’s Ladies, who will share the roles of Team Manager and Matchday Assistant.

Kristian Sharples, who currently works for the RFU whilst doing a Master’s Degree at Leeds Beckett University, has joined as a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Head Coach Steve Stead was pleased to welcome everyone to the team:

“We have been very careful to ensure we give the players the best possible coaching opportunities available, and I’m very happy with the new appointments which has helped build a team that I’m delighted with.

“Both Dave and Jane come with experience in the women’s game from their community clubs, which will be a huge advantage in helping to run the team. Kristian also comes highly recommended and we are delighted that he has come on board allowing us to look forward to what is set to be an exciting 2018 season.”

Jane Dyer is also looking forward to getting started, and commented: “I’m really looking forward to being a part of the management team for the Giants U19’s. This is a really exciting time for women’s rugby league. All the girls have been working hard in preparation for what is hopefully going to be a fantastic first season.”

As well as the new arrivals to the coaching team, the Giants Women’s U19s team can announce that they will be playing their home games on Friday nights at the Huddersfield YMCA, Orchard Park.

With the season not commencing until May, the team will be spending time training at the same facilities as the Huddersfield Giants first team at the Leeds Road Sports Complex as well as having access to the Giants Training Centre Gym.
