Increased delivery of girls rugby league in Huddersfield.

After setting up a girls U19s team, running tough Rugby league sessions and increasing delivery in schools, Huddersfield Giants are now offering a Girls England Talent Pathway Programme for players aged between 11 and 16 (School Year’s 7-11) to give them outstanding professional coaching in a fun environment.

This is the next step for the Giants Community team who have also done a lot of work with Community Clubs to accomplish the long-term development plan of providing more rugby league for girls.

The first girls England Talent Pathway Programme will run in April half-term and summer holidays. Each session will run from 9am to 2pm at Leeds Road Playing Fields.

Girls U19s Head Coach, Steve Stead, commented:

“The England Talent Pathway Programme has always been a hugely popular, sell out session for the boys and we’re delighted to be able to offer it to girls too.

“We’re excited to host more young people in the community and help create a sustainable future for the ladies game. The sessions offer a great platform for young people to get into rugby league and I hope that lots of girls see the opportunity of being able to get into the sport through these fantastic sessions which offer a pathway to an increased involvement in rugby league.

“We’ve seen from the boy’s side that England Talent Pathway can help lead young players into professional rugby league and we’re pleased to be able to offer this to girls in the community and make sure that they are being given an equal opportunity in the sport.

“England Talent Pathway is all about providing high quality coaches to help enable these players to be able to make the step up and progress into a professional rugby environment. We’re pleased to offer such a beneficial programme to girls in rugby league and look forward to seeing many talented young players come through and reap the rewards of these sessions.”

Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 7th March at 9am.

All sessions will be held at Leeds Road Sports Complex 9am-2pm, players must be registered in advance by clicking HERE. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday 7th March at 9am priced at £20 covering ALL four sessions.
