Huddersfield Giants U19’s women’s team head to YMCA Orchard Park to face Castleford Tigers U19’s on Sunday 29th July 2pm KO.
Following a disappointing result against Leeds Rhinos, the Huddersfield Giants U19’s Women are fighting fit and are ready to take on Castleford Tigers. Head Coach Steve Stead has a fresh new perspective and is ready for the weekend ahead:
“We are under no illusions that we are playing against some of the top teams in the country and our game needs to reflect that. We had Erin O’Grady missing against Leeds and we really felt the impact of her absence. Erin brings a lot to the team in both attack and defence. She is quick, and her attitude is to go forward and to be fast off of the line. We lacked that in defence against the Rhino’s which I hope that we can correct this week against Castleford.”
“We have a couple of girls on debut that we are looking forward to seeing in action. Chloe Bennet-Gallagher comes from Illingworth ARLFC and has been training with us since the beginning of the year and Izzy Northrop who has just received her first contract with the Giants after being recently recruited from Brighouse Rangers Ladies. The girls still play for their community teams when not on duty for the Giants and it’s great to have links with the community clubs to help these players progress to the next level of their careers. We have the home advantage this week and we are looking forward to seeing our supporters get behind the girls, which always contributes to the game.”
