This summer proved to be a record-breaking one for Huddersfield Giants Community Trust, with more than 600 children engaging in our holiday provision across Kirklees.
Throughout the school holidays, we delivered a wide range of activities at The Zone and across Kirklees, providing opportunities for young people to stay active, develop new skills, build friendships and enjoy positive experiences in safe and inclusive environments.
One of the standout achievements of the summer was the success of our holiday camps for children aged 5 to 12. We welcomed over 200 more unique participants than the previous year, making it our biggest summer of holiday camp delivery to date. From rugby and multi-sports to cheerleading and gymnastics, the programme offered something for everyone, regardless of experience or ability.
Our summer offer also included the delivery of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, helping eligible children and families access free holiday activities alongside healthy meals. Through this provision, we supported young people across Kirklees to remain active, engaged and connected throughout the school break.
Alongside HAF, we were proud to deliver an extensive Short Breaks programme, funded by Kirklees Council. This provision created inclusive opportunities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. These tailored sessions enabled participants to enjoy new experiences, build confidence and develop friendships in a supportive environment.
The success of our summer programme would not have been possible without the continued support of our valued partner, CoffeeSafe. Their ongoing commitment has helped us provide accessible holiday activities for children and families who may otherwise face barriers to accessing holiday provision, ensuring more young people can benefit from opportunities at The Zone year after year.
Reaching more than 600 participants across our holiday provision is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates the growing reach of our community programmes. It also highlights the positive impact our work continues to have on children, young people and families across Kirklees.
As we look ahead to October half term and future holiday provision, we remain committed to delivering engaging, inclusive and affordable opportunities that inspire children and young people to be active, healthy and connected.
