Making a significant impact following a breakout year, the nursery provision is one of the Trust’s fastest growing areas of delivery, with weekly sessions now taking place in over 20 nursery settings across Huddersfield, Dewsbury and North Kirklees.
Designed specifically for early years children, the sessions focus on developing fundamental movement skills, improve confidence, encourage social interaction and make staying active enjoyable from an early age. Through games, challenges and creative activities, young participants are given the opportunity to learn, develop and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
From the first nursery partnership with Jack and Jill’s nursery to working with leading providers including the four chain Birkbees Group (Birkbees, Fixbees, Nursery Rhymes and First Class), Flatts Nursery, Birstall Pre-School, Mrs B’s Day Nurseries, White Stork nursery and the group of seven nurseries within the Portland network, the programme continues to grow across the region, as we expand our growth into North Kirklees.
The nursery provision forms an important part of Giants Community Trust’s commitment to support more communities throughout Kirklees. By engaging children at such an early age, the Trust helps lay the foundations for lifelong participation in physical activity while developing essential skills including agility, balance, coordination, teamwork and communication.
The programme continues to grow, with more nursery settings recognising the value of specialist sports coaching and active learning opportunities.
