The Ronan Costello Festival returns, this time at The John Smith’s Stadium!
Back for the third consecutive year, the large junior Rugby festival will take place on the playing surface at the home of the Huddersfield Giants on Thursday 29th May, before the first team battle against Super League counterparts Leigh Leopards.
The festival is a legacy created to remember Ronan’s life, bringing community clubs from around the region with players and staff participating in competitive small sided fixtures, all in memory of Ronan.
Open to junior community clubs in the age groups of U7’s, U8’s and U’9s, the festival will fall in the half term school break at the end of May.
Ronan was a very talented Giants Academy player, sadly losing his life while playing for the Giants U’19s in 2016. Passionate about the game of Rugby League and the community it creates, this event is a source of Rugby League togetherness which welcomes hundreds of players, year on year.
We welcome all community clubs in the region to register your teams (which includes a donation entry fee), The event will include food after the festival followed by entry for one adult and child into the first team fixture at 8pm, where the clubs will conduct a parade at half time!

Becky Colwell, Giants Sports Development Manager comments on the festival being held at the John Smiths Stadium: “We are extremely delighted to be able to host the Ronan Costello Festival at the John Smith’s Stadium for the first time! This milestone allows us to bring all our community clubs together again and participate in small sided matches in a spectacular setting continuing Ronan’s legacy. The event continues to grow year on year and we can’t wait to welcome all our community clubs together again.”
