Local school St Joseph’s Catholic Primary are the latest to become a Huddersfield Giants Partner School for 2018/19 having seen the benefits of a unique partnership opportunity which will see them receive a dedicated Partner Schools Officer delivering high quality PE, health and education sessions within each of their schools throughout the 2018/19 academic year.
The schools Head Teacher Mr Williams showed great interest in the initiative upon its release, and was able to realise the benefits to St Joseph’s and commented: “We’re delighted to become Gold Partners with Huddersfield Giants. We have a strong tradition of sports at St. Joseph’s and look forward to extending that further, in terms of additional activities, both on and off the field, to contribute to the health and wellbeing of our pupils here in Dalton.”
The health and wellbeing of pupils is a key focus of the initiative which will engage thousands of young people. Project Lead and Head of Sport, Jonathan Timms explained: “The Partner Schools initiative is targeted to get more children active and leading healthy lifestyles throughout the Kirklees area through PE, health and educational activity. We have a clear strategy to achieve this and with our growing levels of partnerships within local schools, we are confident we can make a significant impact upon the lives of people in our community”.
Primary schools interested in becoming a Huddersfield Giants Partner School are encouraged to contact Jonathan Timms (jonathan.timms@huddersfieldcommunitytrust.co.uk) at the earliest opportunity to discuss their schools requirements.
